After all it looks like it is working fine by now. I configured a test DB (with RelStorage 3 as backend, as this is my environment) and I have the limit set to 750MB. Now my sites are all respecting the limit w/o any measurable degrading in performance so far. And my instances are staying all below 1GB.
OT, but that said, latest Relstorage 3 is a big performance boost on its own.
The README of plone.recipe.zope2instance still says, that “zodb-cache-size-bytes” is experimental. Are there any news about that?
Is someone using it in production? And is a difference expected in using it with zeo or relstorage?
