It is a little surprising that Plone didn’t come into the GSoC org list this year. Is there any specific reason???
POV: the outcome of most GSOC projects could be accomplished these days with AI within a day or two, and less mental stress for the mentors.
Yes yes Andreas but that's not the point ![]()
Indeed @aryan7081 ... it has happened before that we weren't selected, and the generic reason they give is that there were more applications than there were slots. I do recall that we were still able to ask one of the other chosen organizations if they could spare us a project, and it worked. Let's see what happens next.

Got it. Let's see what happens. ![]()
I’d agree. But doesn’t make sense when you look at projects that have been proposed by organization that have been selected this year.
For example, Wagtail - another Python based CMS, has these as their listed projects.
I’m not saying they are easy projects but Plone had relatively more complex projects listed.
Maybe the GSOC Intern / AI Screener counted the Followers to People (808/26 vs 680/1100) or Projects (38 vs 17) and decided Wagtail was more deserving. /sarc off
Opinion: Given our difficulties in acquiring mentors, the prioritization of Plone 7 on our roadmap, and a general feeling that the utility of GSOC vs our homegrown projects from longtime contributors is limited (I count at least 4 amazing ones just recently), my guess is that GSOC participation is very low on our list of ambitions.
Please let’s focus on what we CAN do vs what we can’t.
