Test sending of emails -- button missing in Volto

Referring to the 2024 training Mastering Plone Development 6.5. Configure a mail server - the button to send a test email only exists in the backend - it is missing in the frontend. Am I correct in believing that it should work in the same way, both frontend and backend. Should the email setup normally always be done in Volto on production sites? It is still a bit ambiguous to me how the frontend and backend sync and work together.

The settings are stored in the same place regardless of whether you edit them in Volto or in the Classic UI. We would like to have the "test" button in Volto also, but no one has implemented it yet.
