Seeking a full time web/Plone developer

The weekly German newspaper der Freitag is looking for a web developer with solid knowledge of Python and frontend technologies. This is a full-time position beginning May 2024.

At our website, www.freitag.de, our online team manages the lifecycle of our newspaper articles. The website is built with the Open Source CMS Plone (python). We also manage a number of other satellite websites built with the

Open Source framework Django (python). The development team uses agile methodologies as a primary organizational tool. We follow Test-Driven Development methodology and use GitLab Continuous Integration to ensure the stability and quality of a system before proceeding to production.

Your role:

  • you will bring your strengths as part of a development team, helping to improve our platform

Your profile:

  • web/full stack developer
  • fluency in Python (fluency in JavaScript a plus)
  • a desire to learn new technologies and make a difference
  • experience with Python and JavaScript tooling (e.g. pip, pnpm, webpack/vite, typescript)
  • experience with responsive design, HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, BEM a plus
  • experience working within small- or medium-sized teams
  • experience with django and/or Plone a plus
  • fluency in reading/writing/speaking English
  • a current resident of Berlin or a willingness to relocate there
