Resource library add-on for Volto: is anyone working on something similar?

Hi everyone,

We're starting work on a resource library for one of our clients, an education research organisation in South Africa. The plan is to give visitors a better overview of what they're downloading (the majority of their current resources are currently just PDF downloads), and to give search engines, Google Scholar and AI tools have more data to work with.

The plan is to give each resource a Volto block enabled page with structured information: authors, a summary, publication date, resource type, topics and projects. That information is entered once and then used everywhere: on the page itself, in the filters on the resources listing, in social sharing previews, in schema.org structured data and in Google Scholar's citation tags.

We're building it as a general add-on, so it should suit any organisation with a publications or resources section. Roughly:

  • Behaviours you can switch on for any content type (File, Document, etc)
  • collective.taxonomy for resource types, topics and projects
  • A control panel for your organisation's details and for linking taxonomies to the structured data
  • A simple switch to turn a file into a landing page, so existing PDFs keep working until editors are ready to fill in the blanks

Before we get too far: is anyone working on something similar, or do you know of an add-on that already covers parts of this? And if it's something you'd use, we'd be glad to collaborate.

Thank you!
