My server4you vendor dropped the ball on me They use acronis save and restore. The backup parts work including the whole system image save, just they couldn't restore the image. While they are trying to resolve the issue, they gave me new temporary server and I am going through the manual rebuild. It is Debian server. Since I do have the complete plone directory on the backup, is it possible if I just copied all the directory content into the new server without having to go through all the build steps and off it goes.
You can give it a try and if the new server has the same architecture and the directory is in the same path it may work. Otherwise you'll definitely need to rerun buildout after copying from the backup, to rebuild binary eggs and update paths in the scripts.
