Plone English Source Text Corrections

Hi All,

During the Polyglot i18n project that I am doing, a comprehensive audit was carried out of all English source strings in plone.app.locales. This audit compared every message's #. Default comment value against UK English grammar, spelling, and punctuation standards.

The document below shows both the msgid (the lookup key in the .pot file) and the #. Default comment (the actual English text shown to translators). In most cases the msgid is a short identifier and the error is in the #. Default value.

The corrections are split into two categories:

  1. Bugs (Section A) — clear errors (misspellings, grammar mistakes, missing spaces, double spaces, locale format issues) that should be uncontroversial to fix.

  2. Style proposals (Section B) — corrections that depend on adopting a consistent UI text style guide. These include sentence-case capitalization, typographic apostrophes, proper ellipsis characters, consistent quoting of UI elements, and punctuation normalization. A formal PLIP proposing these style standards has been drafted (see docs/plone-community/PLIP_UI_TEXT_STYLE_GUIDE.md).

I am not sure how to move forward with this. The fix is in source code and there are many fixes.

Let me know if any further information or clarification is required.

Kind regards,

Mack
