On inserting animated gif picture in plone 5

I am trying to insert an animated gif file to a plone 5 website. I added the gif as image content, which worked perfectly fine when opened in a browser. Then I used the editor TinyMCE to insert it in the main text. Only the first frame of the gif shows and no animation is displayed. What could be the reason?

Animated images will only remain animated when you use the "original" scale rather than a scaled version of the image. Downscaling of an animated GIF does not retain the animation.
