Marketing Team meeting notes

Attending: Guido, Astrid, Brian, Rikupekka, Armin, Ruben

Items from last meeting

  • T-shirts: Beethoven and Buschenschank Sprint t-shirt activities are complete. Reimbursements for Beethoven are in progress. Pole Position Sprint t-shirts are next.
  • plone.org whole site update: Work continues on next.plone.org. While waiting on some blockers (next.plone.org and Karel's blocks), contributors are focusing on testing.plone.org and coordinating content improvements through the content grooming process. Theme and content work: Karel continues work on the new site theme. Discussions also continued around improving archival content and preserving community history through a future "Plone Cave" archive concept.
  • Plone Conference 2026: Venue, social event location, catering, and DJ arrangements have been confirmed  :tada:. Initial conference promotion is beginning, with social media campaigns prepared and inquiries already arriving regarding invitation letters. Ticket pricing is being finalized. The team also discussed promotion opportunities through related community channels and the upcoming Call for Papers.
  • Sovereign Tech Fund application: Progress continues on the application effort, with ongoing coordination among contributors. Further progress planned during Pole Position Sprint.
  • Plone 6.2 release: Still outstanding communication work includes creating feature-focused social media content to highlight new functionality introduced in the release.
  • Experimental review process: Initial testing of the non-PLIP feedback workflow highlighted opportunities to simplify documentation and reduce process complexity. The team agreed to continue refining the approach based on practical use.
  • Plone Labs: Discussions continue around moving Hands-on sessions and Kitconcept office hours into the Plone Labs section of the new website.
  • Brand guidelines: Initial work on updated Plone brand guidance was reviewed.
  • Jon Cherry sessions: Planning continues around the community manifesto initiative. Tasks identified include community interviews (What does Plone mean to you?) and recorded discussions that can be repurposed for social media and Plone Conference content.
  • Community recognition programme: The team is awaiting further updates following recent discussions and process improvements at the Beethoven Sprint.
  • Upcoming communications: Priorities for the next two weeks include publishing meeting notes, the June newsletter, sprint reports, and social media updates.

New items

  • Plone Blicca announcement: The renaming of the Classic UI to Plone Blicca has been announced. A suggestion was made to have a livestream/AMA with the developers to help introduce the new branding to the community.
  • Zope communication support: The lightning talks at the Beethoven Sprint identified a need for communications that encourage broader community contributions to Zope-related development efforts. The plan is to add these tasks to the Sovereign Tech Fund application.
  • Community photo sharing: The possibility of reviving or expanding Flickr-based community photo sharing was discussed. Permissions and infrastructure considerations need to be reviewed with the relevant teams.
  • Website branding consistency: The team discussed ensuring that "Plone" remains the primary brand anchor across products and initiatives, including Plone Volto, Plone Aurora, and Plone Blicca.
  • next.plone.org blocker: A forms-related issue affecting Alpha.30 remains a blocker for next.plone.org. Follow-up discussions are expected during the upcoming Pole Position Sprint.
  • Classic UI Team naming: It was noted that the Classic UI Team needs renaming to better align with the new Plone Blicca branding.
