Key discussion points: Recap 2025
- Everyone brought their drink of choice. Beverages ranged from wholesome herbal infusions and teas (Mikel, Armin, Brian) to fine wine (Rikupekka) and a Castle Lite (Astrid).
- the team survived 25 meetings in 2025, plus many additional targeted meetings in smaller groups in Q3 to push the website and provider listings forward.
- personal 2025 Plone highlights were shared, which included having more people on the Marketing team, WPD talks, the Plone conference (this came up a lot!), people coming back to Plone after some time away, attending 2025 Sprints, and learning to (and becoming addicted to) sauna.
2025 Achievements:
- Events & Sprints: Successfully coordinated World Plone Day and assisted with the conference and the Sprints. We are already preparing for 2026, with dates and planning secured for sprints in Stellenbosch, Bonn, Buschenschank, Kerpen, Axolote, Salamina, and PloneConf 2026 in Maastricht.
- Community Engagement: Monthly Tune-Up Days (usually with a live streamed AskMeAnything session), optimized the YouTube channel (great audience growth!), and smoothed out Discord onboarding. Bimonthly newsletters went out. Many social media posts, and increased posting during some of the Sprints.
- Operations: We cleaned up the "Submit a Case Story" workflow a bit, set a data-driven budget for 2026 (thank you @stevepiercy and everyone else who pitched in to streamline and clarify things). Significant progress was made on the Providers page overhaul, with anticipation of new layout and UI once plone.org is upgraded.
- CMS Garden: We have re-established a strong presence, attending monthly meetings to ensure Plone is represented in the wider CMS ecosystem.
Some fun history facts were shared (did you know that major historical events like Assembly.org and the Burning Man Project (back in 2004) relied on Plone? Rob Miller led tech for Burning Man. Armin recommended we check out "History of Python" documentary Watch here*
Some brainstorming was done about how to creatively share case studies. And there's another call for more Case Studies, specifically from Brazil (government/electoral/municipality sites). Email marketing@plone.org to show off your Plone work out there in the world and show how you do Plone.
Thank you to the Team of volunteers
