Hey everyone! I’m Manas, a full-stack engineer who’s been working closely with the Plone ecosystem — especially around Volto and its workflow tooling.
About me
I recently built the Workflow Manager for Volto add-on migrating the legacy plone.app.workflowmanager (which wasn’t compatible with Volto) to Plone’s current stack.
You can check it out here: GitHub - collective/workflow-manager: GUI for managing custom workflows in Plone
I designed and implemented the full React-based UI for managing workflow states, transitions, and permissions. I also rebuilt the backend logic and REST API layer so both modern and legacy workflows behave consistently under Plone’s updated REST architecture.
I presented this work at Plone Conference 2025 in Finland, where I demonstrated how the new workflow editor integrates with Plone’s internal systems and significantly improves the administrative experience.
Manas is also a damned good documentarian, quick to learn, resourceful, communicates effectively, and a pleasure to work with. He even helped me navigate the nightmare of the Indian banking system as Interim Treasurer of the Plone Foundation. Hire him already!
If you’re wondering why I don’t hire Manas, most of my paid work is highly specialized in a dead programming language to which I wouldn’t subject humanity.
I was very impressed with Manas' work getting workflow manager up and running in Volto. I spent a lot of time with him in Jyväskylä and would very much like to have him remain in the Plone community. He is engaging, naturally curious, and a quick learner. Oh and a great traveler... he needs to be at more Plone events, so if you're considering hiring a developer, please reach out to Manas!
I had the pleasure of mentoring Manas during Google Summer of Code, and I can vouch for everything said here. He took on the challenge of the Workflow Manager for Volto with incredible focus and technical maturity. Beyond just writing clean code, he showed a deep understanding of the Plone ecosystem and was able to bridge the gap between legacy logic and modern frontend requirements seamlessly. He is proactive, reliable, and would be a massive asset to any engineering team.
