Position Type: Full-time

Salary:

  • Mid-Level (4-7 years of experience):
    $4,000 – $5,000 USD per month

  • Senior-Level (7+ years of experience):
    $7,000 – $8,000 USD per month

All payments will be processed securely via Deel.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). Flexible schedule, with a daily overlap required from 12-3pm EST time.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Full-Stack Developer to assist our amazing development department as they expand to keep up with the company’s amazing growth. This position will help to supplement
their existing dev teams by supplying additional knowledge and experience to an already amazing team.

This role will be backend-focused, primarily working in Python and Zope 2, with API integrations to Flask, Pyramid, and other internal services, and some front-end work in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript / jQuery. We’re in the process of migrating our Zope application to Django, and Amazon ECS to Google Kubernetes Engine. You’ll also be working with Django, Docker, AWS, MySQL, Celery, Redis, and lots of other tech. Long-term, once we’re fully migrated from Zope, you’ll most likely be trained for a transition to Django.

Responsibilities:

  • Code and maintain web applications using the Zope framework

  • Perform front-end development on proprietary systems using jQuery, HTML, and CSS

  • Participate in the full lifecycle of application development, including design, coding, testing, implementation, deployment as well as support and maintenance

  • Collaborate with various teams and integrate applications with other systems

  • Independently propose, discuss, and implement complex technical solutions

  • Quickly respond to and resolve time-sensitive production issues

  • Assist in the hiring and interview process

  • Translate software requirements into working maintainable solutions within existing application frameworks

  • Perform application and system performance optimization

  • Analyze problem/task to give accurate timelines for milestones and full implementation completion

  • Create user interface, server-side components, and database integration

Qualifications, Skills, and Key Competencies:

  • 3+ years working with Zope (should be advanced- to expert-level)

  • Excellent professional English communication skills

  • Experience with MySQL or similar relational database

  • Advanced knowledge of Python

  • Advanced knowledge of full-stack web architecture and performance optimization

  • Familiar with REST APIs

  • Proficient in writing unit and integration tests

  • Proficient in front-end non-SPA development with JavaScript and CSS

  • Proficient with git

  • Strong ownership and collaboration skills

  • Webcam and microphone with clear audio

  • Stable Internet connection

Work Location

  • Fully remote

  • Most of IT department works from parent company office in Irvine, CA (US Pacific Time), but some global coworkers are spread across US, South America, and Southeast Asia

Terms

  • Probation period of 90 days following hire, during which PTO may be limited

  • Able to work for HGE full-time as an independent contractor, paid semi-monthly
