Thanks to the current tariff fiasco, potential arbitrary detention or deportation of non-US citizens at ports of entry, and an idiotic proposed international travel ban between the US and other countries, airfares have plummeted. Airlines have slashed their earnings forecast in half, due to the cancellation of international travel plans into the US.
Anecdotally, my wife's PeaceCorps friends have had their return flights cancelled and had to rebook because of the lack of passengers. You might want to consider purchasing travel insurance.
