Hu, sorry for my late reply.
Well, for now I just subscribed to that newsletter.
I'm not at all sure I'd be able to contribute regularly. I just thought it would be a good thing to have the installer compile the final Python 2.7 (if Python 2 chosen) or to enable it to install a 3.x version of choice in a generic way. I'm not sure about the necessary amount of support for non-bash shells.
