Improved Search Experience on Plone 6 Documentation β€” Now with Section Filtering!

I'm happy to share a small but meaningful improvement to the Plone 6 documentation site at https://docs.plone.org/. If you've ever searched for something like "widget" and waded through dozens of results spanning every corner of the docs, this one's for you.

The search page now supports filtering by section, so you can scope your query to exactly the area you're working in. Whether you're a Classic UI developer, building on Volto, working with the REST API, or diving into the Backend, you can now select your section from a dropdown and get results that are actually relevant to your context.

The sections available for filtering include: Classic UI, Volto UI, Backend, Plone REST API, Plone API, Admin Guide, Developer Guide, Conceptual Guides, Deployment, Internationalization and Localization, Reference Guide, Glossary, and more.

Beyond section filtering, I also improved how search result snippets work. Previously, if your search term matched a page title but not its body, you'd see a rather unhelpful empty or generic excerpt. Now, matched text snippets are shown even when the match is in the title β€” giving you much better context at a glance.

You can try it out right now with this example link: Search - Plone Documentation v6

The section filter parameter is bookmarkable and shareable, which makes it easy to link colleagues directly to a focused search. Feedback and bug reports are welcome β€” happy to iterate on this further based on what the community finds useful!
