Great Idea! Sharing of content to social media really helps in making more to people to know about Plone and also bring more contributors to the community.

Sure, I have an idea that we can not only include popular social media but to connect with any possible website might be within an organization or something. (there are few usecases like sharing content within a large organization). If that still fits with the vision of Plone.
This still just a rough idea though, I can improvise on this and come up with a solid idea with your guidance.

It would be nice to be able to create a Volto block that shows the Mastodon stream for a particular account. Similarly, BlueSky, Twitter/X, Facebook group or page or user, etc.

I think listing is a different idea from sharing.
But what I'd really like to see is rather than dedicated blocks for listing social media posts, an more generalised listing system that could include multiple sources such as external social media feeds, and then that than information and display in many different ways including as a normal volto listing

Embedding is tricky and does not add anything. A web page is not a collector of informations, and every aggregator service born with this idea has not worked.
The device we use is the aggregator, nowadays. If you want to be aggregated by others - which is better for your website -, you need a website notification system (push notifications).
We now have RSS feeds for Volto, thanks to @ziming-yuan and mentors
But... are push notifications something we could do with Plone? We could also use Zapier and IFTTT to push things based on RSS feeds.
We had collective.ifttt also created by a past GSoC project.
