I have to mention Trigger Happy an opensource alternative (https://github.com/push-things/django-th) to IFTTT. It could be a good idea to contribute to another community.

Yes, we can also look into that. IFTTT is just used as proof of concept. Once the project is accomplished, I believe Plone can be integrated with multiple webhooks.

There has been a great hack this summer!! I would like to thank my mentors - @sally, @datakurre, @tkimnguyen and Nejc Zupan. This project would not have been successful without their guidance and constant support. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Plone GSoC admin @cewing and to the entire Plone community for making it a cherishable experience. 
Here is a brief report of my work.
We have successfully released V1.0.2 of collective.ifttt add-on this summer!!
