I have to mention Trigger Happy an opensource alternative (https://github.com/push-things/django-th) to IFTTT. It could be a good idea to contribute to another community.
Yes, we can also look into that. IFTTT is just used as proof of concept. Once the project is accomplished, I believe Plone can be integrated with multiple webhooks.
