volto-year-range-facet is a Search block facet with two handles that snap to whole years.
What it does:
- One search per drag. The search runs once, 0.4 seconds after you let go. It doesn’t run for every year the handle passes.
- Keyboard and screen reader support. The handles are native range inputs. Arrow keys work, and screen readers announce “2026 or later”.
- Drop-in replacement for Date Range. It sends the same
date.betweenquery. If you register it as a replacement, existing search blocks become sliders without anyone re-editing them, and links people have already shared keep working.
Editors set a first year and, if they want, a last year. If the last year is empty, the scale uses the current year, so it moves forward on its own each January.
