Enabling multilingual on a site that has lots of content

Is there documentation covering what to do if you have a site with lots of content and decide to enable multilingual support? e.g.:

  • should existing content be moved under the primary language folder?
  • can existing content be left where it is? that does not seem to be the case: the Translate menu does not seem complete, and when you try to create a translation there is an error about getting the language

It should be done, but I would do it with a custom script

I think that is the way p.a.multilingual works. It expects to works with Language Root Folders.
