What is this? Some kind of non-PHP-based online discussion forum? How can you possibly take it seriously?

With a PHP based solution, we'd have many benefits, such as:

  • Easy to hack. What if we forget the passwords? Locksmiths are expensive.
  • A convoluted database schema. We don't pay by the column. Let's get our money's worth with Postgres!
  • Fiddly and ugly UI. Plone should look good by comparison!

Clearly, we haven't thought this one through.

I think we need more than just a discussion forum -- really, I think we need a full-blown PHP-based CMS that's strong in social media and community. Wordpress is probably a bit too lightweight, so I propose we give Drupal a shot.
