Buildout looks convenient and I will probably continue to install Zope with it.
I keep my servers up to date, especially regarding security and I look at any new Zope releases from a security angle but otherwise I rarely upgrade Zope. I have some very, very old ones that work perfectly but now with the Python 2 sunset it's time to move forward. With Zope now evolving fast, things are different.
In the short term, once I have a complete Zope4 (Python 3-based) server with all my other essentials, I'll save it as a Digitalocean snapshot and use that rather than re-install Zope.
