FWIW, here are comparable results with my branch of plone.dexterity without implicit schema attribute default value lookup: Travis CI - Test and Deploy with Confidence

  • Plone 4.3 (plone.app.contenttypes): 0.446 seconds

      278378 function calls (259117 primitive calls) in 0.446 seconds

  • Plone 5.0: 0.440 seconds

      260337 function calls (241383 primitive calls) in 0.440 seconds

  • Plone 5.1: 0.493 seconds

      308518 function calls (280764 primitive calls) in 0.493 seconds
