Versioning of Files

I am currently checking a user requirement for versioning files in Plone 5.2.2...and it is apparently completely broken

  • I created a new Plone 5.2.2 site
  • enabled the versioning behavior for File
  • I created file with a binary attachment
  • I updated the binary file multiple times and added a "change note"

After multiple edit iterations, I visited the "history" view: zero entries
