Is it possible to use only "@@images/image/" type urls instead of UID-based-image-scales urls?

I was asked if it's possible to have only "@@images/image/" types urls in a Plone website.
Are UID-based-image-scales urls stable enough for SEO and caching?
Are there options to configure the image urls, site-wide? I'm using Plone 5.2.4.

Since the format @@images/image/SCALE can not be cached well we do not recommend to use it. The UID changes after each modification, so no purging is needed, in browser cache get a new version because its a new URL. Thus, no, there is no option to configure it, because it is pointless.
