As someone who has only ever used cPanel/1-click auto-installs for websites, this was a new experience for me and took some time for me to figure out. It was worth it, because I learned a lot more about networking, Apache, Ubuntu, and Plone. The documentation was helpful and I'll certainly be doing more and honing my Plone skills. 
I used DigitalOcean for the hosting--they have really cheap hosting packages.
