Example code with simple usage of resources in Plone 5.0?

Is there some example code or documentation how to replace the registration of a CSS or JS file in portal_css/javascript in the 5.0 way?

According to EricB old-style profiles are supposed to work in Plone 5.0 however in my case it does not....filling a bug report.

Wrong observation, the resources are visible in the new the resource registry control panel however
the are not included with the rendered HTML page markup.
